Original Article: H1N1 Forces New Visitation Restrictions at Tahoe Hospital

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA – Barton Memorial Hospital in South Lake Tahoe is not allowing anyone 16 years old or young to visit patients until further notice due to the H1N1 flu outbreak.

A hospital spokesman said this precautionary measure is being taken to protect patients and staff and because of a surgical mask shortage. Teens 16 or under can stay in the Emergency Rom waiting room or front lobby, but they must be with an adult.

Barton officials say these new rules will stay in place until further notice.

Renown and St. Mary’s regional medical centers in Reno have not instituted any new visitation restrictions.
