Brighton High retired the number of former great Reno Mahe at halftime of the Bengals’ game against Pleasant Grove on Friday night.
Mahe was a two-time all-state pick at Brighton and the state’s Gatorade Player of the Year before playing collegiately at BYU and Dixie State. He made it to the pros, spending time with the Philadelphia Eagles, mostly as a special teams standout.
Mahe thanked former teammates, coaches and administration during the halftime ceremony.
“Reno Mahe is a great football player, but he’s also a great man and great role model for youth,” announcer Steve Brown told fans at halftime. “If you’re looking for someone to be like kids, that’s the guy right there.”
